Why Golfers Need Our Office

Golf is an Athletic Sport
To Play your best golf your body has to be able to move in certain ways. The fastest way to know if your body is ready to make an efficient swing is a movement screen. In our office we utilize the TPI Level 1 screen for this exact purpose. The screen looks at specific movements golfers need to perform.
Movement deficiencies contribute to swing characteristics we often experience in our swings. Whether it's a mobility problem (joint, or soft tissue) or a stability (neurological component of control) issue we can determine the right course of action for each individual.
The next step up is the TPI Level 2 fitness test. Once the movement baseline has been established, we need to determine how big your engine (Your bodies strength, Speed, Power) is. Having a deficiency in either strength or speed can contribute to a power output problem. If your power testing is on par and power output is still low we know it's a technique issue.
No matter your problem we can set you up on the path to better golf, whether you're working directly with us on movement, strength, or power training or your own instructor on technique.

Why is a proper assessment so important? How many times have you gone to a doctor of any specialty and they spend 5 minutes going through an evaluation? How many times do you need to go back for another evaluation or the diagnosis they arrived at is wrong and their treatment doesn't help your condition? We need to spend the time to check each joint/ and tissue to determine what you need as a patient. If you go to a chiropractor and they only evaluate the spinal joints, how do you know if that is the only problem? A lot of the time we find a low back issue is actually due to a hip that is restricted and the spine is the victim. When you have a routine to look at each part of a dysfunctional pattern no stone is left unturned, you can see what joint and tissues are involved and determine if it's a true mobility restriction or if you need to do some pattern relearning. If you would like to learn more about what we do and why we do it, please reach out to us.

The human body is all connected. Your foot is connected to the ankle which is connected to the knee yada yada yada. Did you know each separate part of the body is designed to to something different? Regional interdependence first coined by Dr. Gray Cook and Mike Boyle is a term coined to explain how the body interacts with itself. The simplest way to explain this is: The human body is compromised of alternating stable parts and mobile parts. Starting at the foot which is a stable area, we then go to the ankle which is a mobile area, knee (stable), Hip (mobile), Pelvis + Lumbar spine (stable), Thoracic Spine (mobile), etc. This concept is why it is important to evaluate the person as a whole and not just focusing in on one body part and explains how a problem with ankle mobility can cause havoc on the lower back. Once you understand this concept you can understand how if a body part is not performing it's role it'll cause problems elsewhere in the body.
