Improving Putting
Improving your putting may seem difficult.
Good putting comes down to a few things:
- Green Reading
- Speed control
- Starting the ball on the line you picked
You need to figure out which one is causing you the most problems and start improving it. If you can't see the break or feel like you're guessing spend some time practicing or try using your feet to feel the slope and contours of the putting surface.
If one putt you're 5 feet short and the next you're 5 long you might a speed control problem. Hitting some putts while doing Heads up putting might be what you need. Heads up putting is where you're looking out toward the target while you stroke the putt. For some people when you come back to the ball, we lose where the hold is out in front of us.
If you are missing short putt after short putt there is a high probability your fundamentals need some work. Going back to the basics and finding your natural stroke will help start the ball on line.
